Optimizing Distinct Counts on Postgres with HLL

In his talk at the recent SF Bay Area PostgreSQL meetup, Sai focused on the HyperLogLog (HLL) algorithm and its PostgreSQL extension, postgresql-hll. He looked at the internals of HLL, why the HLL algorithm is useful to get efficient pre-aggregations and distinct counts in a scalable way, and how HLL can be used in a distributed Postgres database cluster with Citus.
